Fine Wines to Fall in Love With
Saracco Moscato d’Asti ($13.99): If you’re in the mood for a little romance and white wine, there’s nothing quite like a classic Moscato d’Asti. Saracco is one of our favorites. Sweet flavors of honeysuckle, apricot, and orange zest are perfectly balanced with a refreshing acidity, like a glass of lemonade. Sip this wine with something spicy—maybe takeout from your favorite Indian or Thai place—or serve it with dessert. This wine can be found in our Italian and Sparkling wine sections.
Siduri Willamette Pinot Noir ($21.99): This light-bodied but flavorful red wine is a showstopper. Rich flavors of dark fruit combine perfectly with earthy notes. Pair this wine with salmon, poultry, or a creamy brie. You can find this wine in our Oregon/Washington aisle.
Terredora Dipaolo Aglianico Campania ($11.99): If you’re looking for something that’s not too heavy or too light then this luscious Italian red is for you. The flavors of tart red cherry, fresh herbs, and red licorice pair perfectly with meaty pastas, beef, lamb, or sharp cheeses. Look for this wine in our Italian section, or ask our staff to find it for you.
This cocktail is a classic for a reason. It’s the perfect balance of bitter and sweet. The spicy rye or robust bourbon harmonizes with the sweet vermouth and bitters. Its deep tones of maroon and brown are just right to get you in the mood for a romantic evening. Plus, you’ll look stylish and sophisticated sipping this drink out of a martini glass. A Manhattan can be made with either bourbon or rye. We suggest trying Bulleit Rye ($37.99 for 1 L) or Knob Creek Bourbon ($29.99 for 750 mL).
1 oz sweet vermouth
1.5 oz rye or bourbon whiskey
2-3 dashes Angostura bitters
maraschino cherry for garnish
Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake well and strain into a martini glass. Garnish with a maraschino cherry if desired. For a sweeter cocktail, pour a dash of maraschino cherry syrup into the mix before shaking.
Bailey’s Chocolate Strawberry Martini
2.5 oz Strawberries and Cream Baileys
1 to 1.5 oz Godiva Chocolate Liquor
1 oz Pinnacle Whipped Cream Vodka
strawberry and chocolate syrup for garnish (optional)
Mix well with ice and pour into a martini glass. Garnish with chocolate syrup and fresh strawberries if desired. Add an extra half ounce of vodka if you like your drinks strong. We tried this recipe with original Godiva ($27.99), but you can substitute Godiva White Chocolate ($27.99) if you prefer.
2 oz Belle Isle Ruby Red Grapefruit
2 oz ruby red grapefruit juice
fresh berries (raspberry, strawberry, and/or blackberry)
Add all ingredients in a shaker with ice. Shake and strain into a champagne flute, and garnish with berries.
